The start line is in the dead center of Tenjin, Fukuoka, and the finish line is in Itoshima, an area renowned for beautiful seas and mountains. As you run along this thrilling one-way course, the scenery changes from city to nature, with the invigorating ocean breeze and pleasant fragrance of flowers guiding you toward the finish. The course is also relatively flat, making it ideal for beginners.

Requests for those doing a trial run of the course
  • Obey traffic rules and be considerate of others.
  • Take care not to collide with or run into vehicles or pedestrians.
  • If you are running in a group, do not block the path of vehicles or pedestrians.
  • At night, wear safety clothing such as reflective armbands or vests.
  • Do not disturb residents or shops along the route. Also, please do not litter.
  • Be mindful of your conduct so that everyone can use the road safely and comfortably.

Course highlights

(1) Start area

The start line is in Tenjin (Watanabe dori), the heartland of Kyushu's biggest city. From here, 15,000 runners set off at the same time. Running right through the city center is an experience you won't get in your everyday life.

(2) Seaside Momochi (around the 5 km mark)

The Seaside Momochi area, which is home to Fukuoka Tower, Mizuho PayPay Dome Fukuoka, and other iconic Fukuoka sightseeing spots, offers a modern and beautiful cityscape. In May 2012, Sazae san dori Street was created with the backing of local residents as a tribute to the f act that the Momochi coast was the inspiration for the manga series Sazae san.

(3) Ikinomatsubara and Nagatare Coast (around the 11 13 km mark)

Ikinomatsubara, one of Japan's top 100 beaches with white sand and green pine trees, is also famous for t he remains of a stone wall built to protect against the Mongol invasions of the 13th century. After passing through the beautiful pine forest, you will see Hakata Bay on the right side of the course, with a panoramic view of Nokonoshima Island, which is fa mous for its seasonal flowers.

(4) Kyushu University Ito Campus (around the 20 km mark)

Kyushu University Ito Campus, which finished relocating here in 2018, is an impressive sight, with an area that is about 40 times the size of Mizuho PayPay Dome Fukuoka. The gentle slope leading up to the entrance of the campus is perhaps the toughest section of the first half of the course. Make it past this point with the encouragement of the spectators along the roadside

(5) Umizuri Marine Park (around th e 29 km mark)

The Imazu and Kitazaki area of Nishi ku, Fukuoka City, is a popular destination for weekend visitors. Attractions include Umizuri Fishing Park, cafes, restaurants, and oyster huts. If you look out over Hakata Bay, you can see Fukuoka Tower and Shikanoshima Island, where the famous King of Na gold seal was discovered.

(6) Futamigaura (around the 35 km mark)

After passing the 25 m high point in the second half of the course, you will be greeted with a beautiful view of the Genkai Sea coastline. Futamigaura, selected as one of the top 100 beaches and places to see the sunset in Japan, is a popular tourist spot situated on the border between Fukuoka City and Itoshima City. The area is lined with trendy restaurants and cafes, and is alwa ys bustling with families, couples, and tourists.

(7) Finish area

Having enjoyed both the city and nature as you ran along the course, the finish line is finally in sight. We will continue to provide our warm hospitality to all the runners until the very end.

<Leave your car at home on the day of the event!>

  • Do not come to the venue in your own car, as this will cause congestion on the surrounding roads.
  • There are no parking spaces around the finish venue. Please use the free shuttle bus between JR Chikuzen Maebaru Station and the venue.
  • D o not park on the streets around the venue, as this will cause considerable inconvenience to local residents.
